Boynton Beach Education

Boynton Beach is part of the Palm Beach County School District, one of the largest and fastest growing in the State of Florida.

Florida recently enacted a $5 Billion spending program to expand and improve the public school system in response to the States’ rapidly growing school population. Ample signs of this are noticed by the new schools being built in virtually every area you drive by.

Boynton Beach History

Boynton Beach was founded by Nathan S. Boynton, a Civil War Major, from Port Huron, Michigan, who was so impressed by the natural beauty of the area, that he later returned to build a summer residence for his family.

Boynton Beach remained a fairly unknown tropical paradise until after World War Two.  Since that time, Boynton Beach has grown steadily .More importantly, the City has expanded wisely.  It remains a charming modern area, with orange groves, dairy farms, fishing marinas, and sandy white beaches.

Centrally located in Palm Beach County midway between West Palm Beach and Boca Raton, Boynton Beach is an active community of some 55,000 people. Residents enjoy a full calendar of street festivals, open-air concerts, educational lectures and other cultural events. There is always something to see and do. Thanks to Boynton Beach's central location, a multitude of museums, theaters, and cultural events are within easy reach.

Boynton Beach is one of the fastest growing areas in one of the fastest growing counties of the country. As might be expected, residents enjoy all of the recreational opportunities that have made South Florida famous. From golf and tennis to water sports and fishing, South Florida is a sportsman's paradise. The city is justifiably proud of its Little League Baseball Team which lost in the International World Series to Taiwan.  Also Money Magazine recently called Boynton Beach, one of the top ten retirement communities in the United States.

For shoppers and businesses alike, Boynton Beach offers a diverse selection of venues. The Boynton Beach Mall contains more than 140 retail shops and is anchored by Dillard's, Macy's, Burdines, Sears and JC Penney. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from including everything from the finest aged steaks and fresh seafood to Asian, African and Latin cuisines. When it comes to health care, the area is home to three state-of-the-art health care facilities. Each one has established reputation for professionalism in assisting with the patient's healing progress and family concerns. One of the county's two trauma centers is located at the Delray Medical Center, accepting critical accident and trauma victims from throughout the region.

Educational opportunities can be found from preschool venues to doctoral programs at satellite university sites located within the city. The school district has an excellent reputation and has earned numerous awards.

Boynton Beach was cited by Money Magazine as being one of the top ten retirement communities in the nation. Last year, the Boynton Beach Little League team won the United States championship going all the way to the World Series before losing to Taiwan. We are conveniently located to three major airports, Palm Beach International Airport, Fort Lauderdale International Airport, and Miami International Airport, as well as several private plane airfields.

Two major highways I-95 and The Florida Turnpike, transverse the county from north to south.

Cruise ships and cargo vessels use the Port of Palm Beach, and the Miami piers.

Light rail service runs from Miami through the county to points North.
